Pixies, according to fans and many music critics, one of the most important bands of the last thirty years and pioneers of alternative rock, are returning to Slovenia after thirteen years! They will perform in Ljubljana's Križanke on July 12, 2017.
Pixies, pioneers of alternative rock, formed in 1986, achieved world fame already in the 80s. They founded one of the most important bands of the last thirty years Black Francis (vocals, guitar), Joey Santiago (guitar), Kim Deal (bassist, backing vocalist) and David Lovering (drums). Their cult album Doolittle from 1989 is considered the aggressive, surrealist product that many believe it to be paved the way for alternative rock. Among other things, there is a song on it Debaser, a powerful, absurd song about cutting an eyeball, a reference to a short film by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dali Un chien andalou (Andalusian dog, 1929).

The world-famous music group had a strong musical influence on groups such as, among others Nirvana, U2, Radiohead and The Strokes. Kurt Cobain once told Rolling Stones magazine that he was so closely associated with the Pixies that he should have been in the band. "When I wrote Smells Like Teen Spirit, I basically wanted to write the best pop song by copying the Pixies," he added.
The band broke up in 1993 and reunited in 2004. Bassist Kim Deal finally left the band in 2013 due to disputes, but today she performs concerts with them Paz Lenchantin. They released their sixth studio album last September Head Carrier, where the Pixies returned to female vocals as well as lyrical surrealism.
The Pixies promise an energetic, unforgettable concert, and fans of the band can look forward to both older classics (Where Is My Mind, Hey, Here Comes Your Man, Gigantic, Monkey Gone To Heaven ...) and rarely heard gems from the cast catalog as well newer songs.
