But if you've been reaching for unhealthy snacks and hearty meals by accident, then you're probably already looking forward to detoxing your body after the holidays. And apparently there is an ingredient that can help you do just that.
It looks like it is sweet potato that ingredient that will help you with post-holiday body detoxification. But don't get too excited. We are not talking about golden, crispy baked sweet potatoes from the oven or creamy mashed potatoes. What is supposed to help with detoxification is namely the rest of the water in which we cook the sweet potatoes.

Japanese researchers found proteins (sweet potato peptides) that remain in water after boiling sweet potatoes in it. After the mice were fed a high-fat diet and drank sweet potato water for 28 days, they had significantly less weight, lower cholesterol levels and lower leptin levels (a hormone that regulates hunger and satiety). They are scientists very optimistic, that the diet will work in the same way in humans.
