Autumn and winter are particularly important seasons for Fjällräven, not only because of its northern origins, but also because nature is sometimes a little more difficult to appreciate at these times of the year. Fjällräven believes that with the right equipment and knowledge, everyone can enjoy nature even in winter.

To make this happen, every year he invites people all over the world to apply to Fjällräven Polar, an annual 300-kilometer dog-sled expedition around the Arctic Circle. The expedition not only provides an opportunity for ordinary people to experience and appreciate true wilderness, but also allows Fjällräven to test its clothing and equipment in the cold and remote landscapes of the Swedish Arctic.

Fjällräven down jackets

Providing innovative solutions to deal with extremely cold conditions is a central part of Fjällrävn's history. In 1974, Fjällräven founder Åke Nordin produced and painstakingly tested the first down jacket Expedition Down Jacket, which has excelled in the most extreme environments. Today, Fjällräven follows the same path as Åke years ago, always striving to develop, improve and test its wide range of winter jackets, which this season includes Polar Expedition Parka – for complete warmth and protection even in the most extreme winter conditions – and a lightweight version of Nuuk Park's best-selling waterproof and insulated jacket, Nuuk Lite Parka, which is created just for cold and damp autumn days in nature. Winter jackets are characterized by a wonderful natural insulator - down.

Fjällräven Down Promise

A key part of Fjällrävn's sustainability approach is traceability. Down Promise ensures 100% traceability and ethically produced down using a production chain with strict and repeated control of its suppliers and subcontractors. Before the introduction of this commitment, due to long production chains, the company did not know exactly where its down came from. In order to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare, the company decided to take a closer look at its down supply. They have developed their own strict standards rather than relying on third parties and certifications.
After several years of work, the result was the Fjällräven Down Promise, which has been in effect since 2014 and is considered the most transparent in the leisure industry.
