The fifth generation Toyota Prius was presented in Europe a few hours ago. The car, which was never particularly beautiful, remains personal and somehow futuristic. Let's see what the new Toyota Prius is like.
In Europe, the new Prius will only be available as a plug-in hybrid. The powertrain thus includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 220 horsepower for the hybrid system. Much more than the previous generation. In Europe, the Prius has a battery with 13.6 kilowatt hours, which has grown considerably compared to its predecessor's 8.8 kWh. Toyota's announcement says that electric range is "50 percent greater than the current generation." This means that you will realistically be able to drive up to 100 kilometers away with electricity. The journey to work and back will be carbon-free. The Prius plug-in will also be available with an optional solar roof panel, through which the plug-in hybrid's battery will be charged. E
Aesthetically, the new Prius looks familiar, but has a much more "attractive" look. It's still distinctive, which is good because it's his signature. The shape pushes the roof tip further back, giving the car a very coupé look. The modified proportions include lowering the height by 50 millimeters and extending the wheelbase by the same distance. The total length is 46 millimeters shorter. The width increases by 22 millimeters. All these changes have the effect that you will not confuse it with its predecessor.
The black interior is divided into three zones in line with Prius' new “island architecture”: the surroundings, the driver's module and the floating instrument panel. For both driver and passengers, the surroundings are spacious and built from elegant, high-quality materials, accented with harmonious accents that emphasize a dynamic feel and meaning. The driver module is based on a 7-inch TFT LCD screen, which is placed directly in the field of vision and increases safety by keeping the driver's eyes on the road. The look is similar to the layout in the bZ4X crossover in that the gauge display juts up from the dash instead of being wrapped around it like most modern vehicles.
The new Toyota Prius is not the most beautiful car in the world, but it is much more attractive than its predecessor. The technology is proven, as hybrids are practically a Toyota invention. Therefore, we believe that it brings the typical Toyota trump cards.
