One thing is clear from the outset, the most southeastern state of the USA is anything but boring. Famous for its plethora of amusement and theme parks, it's perfect for a family vacation.

Florida is one of the largest states in America, and it is located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. On an area of 170,312 m2, you will find more amusement and theme parks than anywhere else in the United States. Add in the array of museums, galleries, historical sites, beautiful beaches and natural gems that make it one of the most popular holiday destinations on earth. The Sunshine State, as Americans call it, is one of those states you'll keep coming back to. Not only because it will be difficult to cover at least half of what it has to offer in a single visit, but also because it will easily get under your skin.

When to Florida?

Florida has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and pleasant winters. Between June and September, temperatures rise above 34 °C, while in January the average temperature is a pleasant 22 °C. That is why it is recommended to visit Florida between October and May, as this way you can avoid the summer heat and the downpours that plague it during the summer months. Spring and autumn will be perfect for flying across the Atlantic.

What should I see in Florida?

Let's start with the more than 193 kilometers long Florida Keys, with exceptional sunsets and lively events. Although you can find a lot of beautiful spots for lounging there, one of the most beautiful beaches in Florida is Clearwater Beach, which is famous for its crystal clear sea. There is no Florida without a beach, which quickly becomes clear to you, as you are always only a few kilometers away from white and silky soft sand.

One secret aquatic gem, however, is located far from the coast, Devil's Den, a limestone cave whose roof has collapsed and filled with water. This underground spring is extremely deep, which is why it attracts snorkelers and divers. Nature lovers should not miss the Everglades, a subtropical wilderness whose most famous inhabitants are alligators. Along the river, you can admire many species of birds and animals, from otters, turtles, even panthers.

For a slightly different entertainment, suitable for families, go to Disneyland, which consists of four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot. Meet the main characters, enjoy shows and exciting rides, all this is offered in the world of Disney. However, the fun is far from over. Florida is also home to Legoland, which will delight all cube lovers. Orlando is the epicenter of theme and amusement parks, you can also find there Universal Studios, written for movie lovers. It offers three themed sections: Universal, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay.

Space enthusiasts should not miss when visiting the Sunshine State Kennedy Space Center, which is one of ten national astronaut centers in America. There you will meet astronauts and learn more about space exploration. Have we listed them all? Oh well, when visiting Florida, don't miss St. Petersburg, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Tampa and other attractions.

How to explore Florida?

You will be able to see most of the sights only by renting a car. This is the only way to freely explore the country and stop where your heart desires. You can find car rental companies at every turn, and it is recommended that you inquire about them before you land in Florida. You must be at least 21 years old to rent.

How much is a plane ticket to Florida?

You can find a plane ticket from Venice to Miami for as little as 220 euros (April), but if you want to sunbathe already in January, tickets are on average 100 euros higher. You can search for flight tickets according to your vacation date HERE.
