Here are the results of my genetic test! It's amazing what they reveal!

Well, I got them... the results of the genetic test. You do remember that I took a genetic test to find out why my body is so stubborn about weight loss and stress, right? Well, now here are the results, and it's obvious that I'm doing a lot of things very wrong, even though I thought I was doing everything right the whole time! #facepalm

So when I got the results, I made a reservation first free half-hour consultation with a nutrition and sports expert (all this is waiting for you as part of the testing). Although the results are perfectly explained and contain useful recommendations, I wanted to know more. Above all, it was easier for me to talk about the results with someone, someone from flesh and blood and with the knowledge that supports all this. And I have to admit that I was impressed! I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm very prone to weight fluctuations and I'm probably not an isolated case. And a genetic test GenePlanet he showed me just that: after losing weight, I have higher risk of weight regain! What does that mean? Simple - rigorous diets are not for me, nor is intermittent fasting! I just have to eat the way I do (read: varied healthy) and add physical activity. I also have to learn to trick my brain - that is, to put a bigger plate of healthy food in front of me rather than a smaller plate of nonsense - because I have a higher tendency to binge. Actually, it is It is 4 times more difficult for me to feel full! Another interesting thing I learned is that you should eat "with the sun", which means that you should eat when it's daylight and stop as soon as it gets dark. In winter, this would mean that she would have dinner already around five in the afternoon. Doable? I think so! 😊

So if I were to summarize it somehow: it is for me the most appropriate balanced diet, which has somewhere around 1,800 calories. This is the only way I will manage to stabilize my weight and body and adhere to the nutritional recommendations.

Of course, all this also includes exercise. Urška nicely explained to me that she would 30 minutes of exercise is enough, but it must be interval (HIIT), where I will burn fat for 48 hours after training. I should avoid exercise when I'm stressed or sleepless, as my genetic predispositions show that I have higher risk of soft tissue injuries, which means I can 1,2,3 injure myself if I don't practice with focus. The information that impressed me about sports performance is that I have high potential for muscle volume and higher aerobic potential. What does that mean? That in all probability I will have to put in less effort for the same sports results than a person with a lower aerobic potential, and I will also in all probability have better results in gaining muscle mass. This! "Six-packs", here I come!

And as I expected: my stress response is negative and i am your warrior type! What exactly does that mean? My COMT enzyme is only working at 25% efficiency and because of this it breaks down dopamine more slowly. According to my score, I am more efficient and my brain functions better in non-stressful situations. When I find myself under stress, I can experience anxiety and reduced brain functions. Being a warrior type means that my adrenaline level is already at a higher level in normal day-to-day situations anyway, while in challenging situations it goes even higher! In short: I'm a ticking time bomb! 😊 And here I can only help myself, each of us can only help myself here. You will have to learn to say "no", take time for yourself, calm down a bit, trust people and ask for help. It sounds simple, in practice it's a little harder, but it's not impossible - that's my New Year's resolution!

Of course, this is far from all that I learned from the test. For example, I have slow metabolism of caffeine, which means one coffee a day is my maximum. And this should never be after lunch, as it prevents the normal absorption of jelly into the blood, which, according to my genetic predispositions, is already somewhat lower anyway. It's the same with vitamin B9, which is important for fat storage, for example (here, too, may be a piece of the puzzle of my weight problems).

I have higher tendency to break down collagen (hello, wrinkles) and average risk of cellulite (well, there really isn't too much of it...yet). It's also average risk of varicose veins (which is always good to know, given that I am a "sedentary" generation).

All this comprehensive analysis is really difficult to summarize in a few sentences, I could go on and on, there is really a lot of information and absolutely every one is useful on the way to a better lifestyle! They open your eyes and you look at what you have done with your body so far and how you will treat yourself from now on in a completely different way! Genetic predispositions are a very important piece of the puzzle that is our body, because with their help we can get an insight into what is happening deep inside us and what we might not even give such importance to. You really should, you really should! By having this and goals, we can really change our lives and finally see what works for us and why we might feel the way we do.
