Ice cubes with flowers are the best summer party trick (video)

It's the easiest and prettiest way to spice up your parties, as these beautiful frozen works of art will make all your summer cocktails that much more appealing. All you need are ice molds, edible flowers and water. It's time to try flower ice cubes.

First you will need edible flowers such as pansies, nasturtiums, daisies, lavender, clover, chamomile. The more colorful the better. They must be washed before use. You will also need an ice cube tray, preferably a larger one so that the flowers have enough space. For a nicer ice, we suggest boiling the water, as this will ensure that the ice is not cloudy.

Recipe for ice cubes with flowers:

Step 1: Pick off the fresh flowers and clean them. Choose an ice model. Also boil the water you will use.
Step 2: Fill ice cube trays halfway with cold water and place one flower on top. The molds should be filled halfway and not completely. Place them in the freezer for at least 6 to 12 hours. You will use the boiling water later.
Step 3: Pull out the tray and pour more boiling water over the molds until they are completely filled. Place back in the freezer for 12 to 24 hours.

Freezing the cubes in two layers ensures that the flowers are in center of the ice cube, instead of just floating on top and remaining partially exposed after freezing. If you use a larger mold, you can even place two flowers—one facing up, one facing down—to create a 360-degree look on the finished ice cube.
