Jeep cherokee – Sovereign both off-road and in the urban jungle

The Cherokee is Jeep's mid-size SUV, which in its fourth generation wants to be an even bigger thorn in the side of the fifth fashionable but less off-road capable European competition. Two diesel engines and a six-cylinder gasoline engine are available, and buyers can also choose between two transmissions and three versions of 4WD drive. Prices start at 30,000 euros.

Cherokee it is full of symbols and details that define the Jeep brand, even if they are typical seven upright lobes for air intake on the mask, trapezoidal fenders typical of willys or inside where the contours of the center console frame mimic the shape of the first Jeep models.

In the interior, the fact that it is now a jeep is most noticeable under the aegis of fiat, because certain switches are the same as larger Fiat models, for example the Freemont, but the feel and materials are still a shade better, and the Cherokee also overflows with comfortable equipment and advanced technology. Even the basic of the three packages has a five-inch touch-sensitive screen - uconnect, and in the other two it grows to size 8.5-inch and gains many additional functions such as digital radio. There are also differences between the gauges, otherwise it is basically a 3.5-inch trip computer, but with richer equipment packages it grows to 7 inches. Of course, with the increase in functionality, the driver can also read information about the settings of the drive, car radio, radar cruise control, navigation and automatic parking (if it is equipped, of course) among the gauges.

Basically, the seats are covered in fabric, already in the second package and they put them on you in leather, which at trailhwak version it also gets contrasting ones red stitches. It represents a great innovation in the field of advanced technology wireless mobile phone charging system, which they must have the Qi option. Otherwise, the equipment includes such systems as blind spot, parking assistance, radar cruise control with the stop&go function (the vehicle stops the system completely and restarts it if necessary), and in addition, there is a sensor to prevent collisions, an unintentional lane change warning and a reversing camera.

The more technically minded will be happy to know that the front suspension has a 17 centimeter stroke, the rear suspension multilink and three additional centimeters, and with Cherokee you will be able to tow up to 2,475 kilograms of cargo in trailer or boat form, which is the most in the segment. The Cherokee is also the best in the segment in terms of safety, where it has already won two awards in EuroNCAP tests and five star rating.

There are two options for engines two 2.0-liter multijets diesel engines with 103 and 125 kW respectively power and 3.2-liter gasoline V6 with 200 kW maximum power. The gearbox is basically a six-speed manual, but it can be changed for an additional fee automatic transmission with as many as nine gear ratios. Only with the basic diesel, the power can be transmitted either to the front wheel pair or all four wheels, and with the latter, depending on the equipment and the engine, there are three selec-terrain 4WD versions.

This basically already offers four operating programs depending on the base (auto, snow, sport, sand/mud) and with even more powerful versions, the vehicle gets more reducer and system HDC, and for the latter (trailhawk version) as well differential lock. Equipped in this way, it feels like a fish in water on the terrain, but how far you can climb depends only on the appropriate choice of tires.

Prices for the base diesel version with front-wheel drive start at 29,990 euros, for four-wheel drive you will be forced to move further seven thousand, while a walk between the longitude and limited package will cost you five thousand, and for the most powerful off-road trailhawk, which is only available in combination with a 3.2 V6 engine, you will pay at least 53 thousand euros.
