Thus here are seven tribes, among which is the largest tribe Zalabia. It consists mostly of people living in the village of Rum, which is the only village inside the protected area. On the other hand, the Zalabia tribe is largely responsible for tourism services such as trips with jeeps and camels.

There are many ways to explore Wadi Rum - by jeep, camel or hot air balloon. If you are looking for more challenging activities, try hiking and spend the night in a Bedouin tent.
Tours with jeeps are the fastest way to see famous archaeological sites, and most vehicles are trucks operated by local Bedouin cooperatives. It is definitely among the more popular activities camel riding, and on request, the visitor center organizes shorter tours for you. Hiking is possible throughout the protected area, and Bedouin guides must be booked in advance.
