These sneakers are Virgil Abloh's ultimate legacy. 200 pairs of these Nike "Air Force 1" shoes he designed for Louis Vuitton are being auctioned by Sotheby's for a good cause.

January 20, 2022 officially marks the end of Virgil Abloh's tenure at Louis Vuitton. The fashion house presents its latest Spring/Summer 2022 men's collection designed by the American designer. The first images reveal a playful, surrealist-inspired collection that doesn't take itself too seriously. Of course, Abloh also had an ulterior motive. "Humor is the gateway to humanity," Louis Vuitton said in a tweet. The eyes of his fans will be focused mainly on the sneakers. You will be able to compete for these at the Sotheby's auction.

The auction marks the first edition of the sneaker in an exclusive colorway created by Virgil Abloh in collaboration with Louis Vuitton and Nike for the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2022 collection. As artistic director of Louis Vuitton Men's Art, Abloh was involved in the planning of the auction very early on, before his tragic death on November 28, 2021. This is also why the latter will take place completely in accordance with his wishes.

Funds raised will go towards the Virgil Abloh TM “Post-Modern” scholarship fund in partnership with the Fashion Scholarship Fund, which supports the education of academically promising students of Black, African American or African descent.

The sneakers will be available in different sizes from 5 to 18, and each pair will be sold together with a Louis Vuitton pilot bag, also from the Louis Vuitton spring-summer 2022 collection, which has been reinterpreted from the Maison's archives in the iconic orange color. and made of Taurillon Monogram leather. Virgil Abloh's exclusive Louis Vuitton and Nike “Air Force 1” and pilot bag will be on view at Sotheby's New York in a free public exhibition open from January 19th to February 8th. Bids open on January 26th.

Nike x Louis Vuitton: Virgil Abloh's Last Collection

Accordingly, with this cooperation, an extraordinary opus will be concluded. Abloh's collaboration with Nike has already greatly boosted his rise to the fashion Olympus. His tragic last collection for Louis Vuitton took the collaboration to a new level. Abloh designed the Nike “Air Force 1” sneaker in a patchwork monogram of Louis Vuitton Mini and Damier Azur. The stitching is finished with the signature raw cowhide – so characteristic of this house.
