Powerful 630 HP, fast more than 320 km/h and all this under the open sky! The Maserati s Spyder MC20 Cielo is a convertible, or super sports car version. Of course, this has its own real one.
The MC20 is now also available as a Spyder and with an open-air driving experience. After the coupe, the Italian car manufacturer Maserati introduced a convertible version of the supercar. The MC20 Cielo carries its main characteristics in its name. "Cielo" is the Italian word for "sky". MC stands for Maserati Corse, the brand's racing division. In 2020, it heralded a new era in its more than century-long history, which is represented by the number in the name of the new car.
According to Maserati, the MC20 Cielo impresses with a roof that is unique in its segment. According to the manufacturer, it can be lowered into the rear in just twelve seconds. According to information, this should be possible at a speed of up to 50 km/h. The hardtop is made of electrochromic glass which, thanks to polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) technology, can be switched from transparent to opaque at the push of a button. The convertible is expected to weigh only about 65 kilograms more than the coupe.
The new Spyder is equipped with a Nettuno V6 engine, which according to the automaker offers 630 hp, delivering supercar performance. According to the information, it accelerates from zero to hundred in less than three seconds and reaches a maximum speed of more than 320 km/h. Maserati advertises the engine's "infernal roar". "However, the drama does not end when the MC20 is idle," the Italian company promises. “Although the Spyder is through and through, the doors open outward and skyward. So every arrival becomes an event."
Maserati: And how much should the MC20 Cielo convertible cost?
The nautical inspiration of the trident brand is also reflected in the color of the new Spyder. The Maserati MC20 Cielo is available exclusively in the new color “Acquamarina”, a luminous shade of blue. Like the coupe, the new model will be produced in the historic factory on Viale Ciro Menotti in Modena. According to reports, buyers have to wait about a year. The price of the MC20 Cielo is said to be at least 260,000 euros.
