Musan: an amazing underwater ecomuseum off the coast of Cyprus

Musan Museum was intended to create a seamless connection between land and ocean, bringing together two different wonders - the one made by man and the one formed by nature.

Underwater museum, which offers visitors encounters with natural beauty under the water surface, brings an otherworldly experience and illustrates the connection between man and nature. The sculptures of the installation are located along the coast of the tourist center of Agia Napa, which is located at the extreme eastern end of the southern coast of Cyprus. By setting up this museum, they want to strengthen the story of Agia Napi as a dynamic, modern, cultural resort, with an emphasis on eco-tourism.

A collection of different sculptures under the sea level created a real marine forest world. Musan is an underwater forest, the first of its kind in the world. It contains more than 93 works of art, some of which are in the form of trees, while others are figurative in nature. Works of art, especially those which represent trees, are designed so that they attract marine life and as such they will actually develop organically.

Marine life in the Mediterranean Sea has been seriously depleted in the last 20 years. The area where the museum is located is currently barren sand within a marine protected area. The sculpture forest will thus attract a wide variety of marine flora and fauna. But there is no final product, because it will be an ever-changing seascape.
