The new Alfa Romeo Giulia: who waits, waits

Good things come to those who wait. Alfa Romeo let its fans wait a long time for the new product, but the wait was worth it. On the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the brand's existence, the famous name Alfa Romeo Giulia was brought back to life. It is the successor to the famous Alfa 159, which rose like a phoenix from the ashes, but looks nothing like its predecessor. In parallel with Giulio, the brand's refreshed logo made its premiere, but the snake of the Renaissance Visconti dynasty and the Lombard cross clearly did not lose their place.

Sports version Alfa Romeo Giulia (Quadrifoglio Verde) recently made its debut in front of the world public in a renovated museum in Arese at Milan. The new Giulia took over the baton from its famous predecessor Alpha 159, and its competition in the market will be BMW's 3 Series, Audi A4 and RS4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class (Mercedes-AMG C63 S). Giulia is the result of three parameters: quality exterior, simplicity and sense of proportion. So far, only the known data less powerful versions (QV), which somehow does not skimp on power.

Under the hood, which transmits power to the rear wheels (all-wheel drive will also be available), there is a heavy cavalry that counts 510 horses (375 kW), but he chases them 3.0 liter turbo petrol V6 engine. This one launches it from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and despite the "furious" data, the sports edition is economically oriented, as 100 percent aluminum structure (the bodywork is decorated with phenomenal aerodynamics and therefore a great coefficient of air resistance), which "grounds" the car to the ground and electronic cut-out of cylinders, when it does not need them, they contribute a small share to the amount of CO2 emissions and take care of economy.

Despite this, they do not stifle the sports advertising, and the sportiness is revealed by the active front spoiler, DNA system with a quartet of driving mode settings ("dynamic", "natural", "advanced efficient" and "race"), a bullish rear and we could go on and on. Entry-level Giulias are said to be powered 2.0-liter V4 and V6 gasoline and diesel units.


Like the film directors of ZF-films, who resort less and less to special effects, Alfa Romeo also resorts to good old mechanics with the new Giulia, while the engineers electronics added only as needed. It is made on the new "giorgio" platform, and the designers have also succeeded ideal weight distribution this 1500 kg of meat, that is 50:50. And although it is sporty and therefore compact, Alfa was very generous with the otherwise "driver-centric" passenger cabin.
