About 200 kilometers from Ljubljana and 90 kilometers south of Salzburg, in the center of the Visoki Tur, at an altitude between 1,000 and 2,526 m lies the Obertauern ski center, which offers over 100 km of groomed ski slopes. A real skiing paradise, which also promises a lot of fun and many skiing days this year. A suitable destination also for day skiers from Slovenia.

Obertauern is a place, which lives on tourism and this is reflected in as many as 150 different accommodations of all categories and types and price ranges. Almost all the inhabitants of the place, there are 300 of them, work in tourism. And this is also felt in the pulse of the place, which simply lives on tourism. Of course, skiing is in the foreground - of course 26 cable cars and lifts surround the place and form a unique ski circus. The red circular tour runs in a clockwise direction, while the green one runs in the opposite direction. The sophisticated system offers the possibility to start at one of the cable cars, ski the entire circular tour and return to the starting point. You don't need a car at this time. You can also reach the lifts directly from the hotels on skis. Ski bridges were built to cross the road.

It is available 100 km of groomed ski slopes and many terrains for free skiing provide enough space for all types of skiers. Of these, 61 km are easy (blue runs), 35 km are medium (red runs) and 4 km are difficult ski runs (black runs), declared according to international standards. Clearly visible signs and markings of the ski slopes make it easier for skiers to find their way around the ski resort. And, of course, a high level of security.

In 2022, ski pass prices will be slightly above 50 euros for an adult, while children up to 5 years of age accompanied by their parents can ski for free. Just for children, there is a very special training ground 'Bobby's circle', named after the local mascot, the snow bunny Bobby, it offers fun and varied skiing for younger children; the 'My Track' track offers a bit more challenges and fun for children and young people with more skiing experience. On both tracks, the experiences of young up-and-comers are provided in the snow park, on the track with timing, the fear track and the undulating track.

Of course, cross-country skiers are also catered for on the Obertauern plateau, which has several different trails from 6 to 15 kilometers at their disposal.

In addition to the most established entertainment on the ski resort, it has Austrian winter center with the most snow up the sleeve of another ace - the most beautiful bouquet of activities. But those who, after a day full of experiences in a deeply snow-covered fairytale winter land, just want a cup of hot cocoa or tea by the fireplace, can look forward to staying in one of the hotels that have been run by families for several generations and where luxury goes hand in hand. with comfort and sophistication. This is exactly what awaits you in many catering establishments, which are again operating intact and, according to the old custom, end each day in the snow perfectly with a fragrant imperial roast and bubbling beef soup with dumplings. The host of events that accompany the season begins with the grand opening weekend between December 1st and 4th, which this year hosts a Sarah Connor concert. The season will end with the biggest treasure hunt in the snow, where the finder gets a car as a prize.

In late autumn, a dance of snowflakes begins in the mountains around Obertauern: soft snow crystals slowly fall from the clouds and cover the landscape below with a white veil.
