From rail to vessel, these are the first visuals of the highly anticipated Orient Express ship.
The luxury brand Orient Express, which until now has provided affluent passengers with maximum comfort when traveling by rail, is venturing into the open sea
Accor, the parent company of the famous Orient Express, recently announced new train routes, including an all-Italian experience - La Dolce Vita - due to launch in 2024, which will transport passengers in style along the Amalfi Coast.
Accor's latest announcement, however, steers the Orient Express from traditional rails to the open sea. The Orient Express Silenseas yacht, which is not expected to set sail with passengers for the first time until 2026, will offer the opportunity to travel in luxury in the Mediterranean with stops such as Portofino, Capri and Saint Tropez. In the winter, the yacht is expected to sail in Caribbean waters, attracting everyone who wants to escape the winter cold.
And why only in 2026?
At that time, the company will celebrate the 14th anniversary of the Orient Express, and on this milestone they will present their new program, inspired by the golden age of the French Riviera with Brigitte Bardot at the helm. This glamor will accompany guests on board, where they can enjoy wellness treatments, meditation and explore luxury holiday destinations.
The interior of the ship, which remains unknown for now, will be designed by the renowned architect Maxime d'Angeac, who is also responsible for the luxurious interiors of the Orient Express carriages. Despite its size, Silenseas promises just the right amount of intimacy and a lot of luxury.
The 220-meter-long ship will boast 54 suites and a 1,215 m2 presidential suite with its own terrace.
The Silenseas yacht will also have two swimming pools, two restaurants, a speakeasy bar, a state-of-the-art amphitheater and a recording studio. After all, it is also a relatively sustainable way of navigating the sea - with a hybrid propulsion system that runs on liquefied natural gas.
"With Orient Express Silenseas, we are starting a new chapter in our history," says Sébastien Bazin, President and CEO of Accor, and continues: "We have only transferred the experience and excellence of luxury travel to the most beautiful seas in the world."
