The documentary feature film The Wall - Climb For Gold was directed by world-renowned director Nike Hardie, known for the "epic" documentary series Formula 1: Drive To Survive. Therefore, our expectations were extremely high - and in the end, completely justified. It is the best film about a feat in Slovenian sports - the feat of the incredible and inimitable Janja Garnbret.
In production Windfall films an epic record of our sports path to Olympic gold was created Janje Garnbret. The project was supported by the brand from the very beginning adidas, who is also a personal supporter of all 4 main protagonists of the film. It is a completely independent production, which draws one of the most beautiful sports stories precisely because of its freedom.
The story follows four elite female climbers from the adidas team in the two-year period of the journey to Olympic Games in Tokyo. From the qualification fights for the Olympics, to the very climax at the Olympic Games. The documentary film journey includes a busy season of competition and training, as well as dramatic twists and turns when all original plans were changed due to the pandemic Covid-19, which postponed the Olympic Games for a whole year. Struggling both mentally and physically on their way to the Games, the film reveals a stunning and inspiring insight into what it means to be an Olympian and, ultimately, what it means to be human.

The film certainly also shows the different environments and cultures in which female athletes live. It depicts their relationships in teams, relationships with parents and friends, thus showing an intimate portrait in the lives of four elite female climbers: Janja Garnbret (Slovenia), Brooke Raboutou (USA), Miho Nonaka (Japan), Shauna Coxsey (Great Britain).
"our" Janja Garnbret is declared a child phenomenon in the documentary and has the most world titles in this sport. Thus, she is the greatest competitive female climber of all time and in the documentary record is considered an exceptional favorite for the Olympic title. However, the documentary also beautifully shows her human fallible side. And the pressures experienced by the favorites.
20 years old Raboutou she is one of the youngest competitors at the games and has to balance training and studies. He comes from a climbing family where his mother and father are legends of the sport, winning numerous World Cup titles in the 1990s. So she hopes to continue the family's success. Because of all this, of course, he is under enormous pressure.
Nonaka, the 2018 Bouldering World Cup champion, is a Tokyo native and has to overcome all the added pressure to represent her country in her hometown. She is burdened by the expectations of the home crowd and, of course, by the expectations of herself.
Coxsey is one of the most successful British female climbers in history, with bouldering World Cup titles in 2016 and 2017. Coxsey has battled to overcome a serious injury but hopes to continue her success with a record-breaking performance at the Olympics. The appearance at the Games was also her last appearance in her career.
They all have in common an extraordinary love for sports, dedication and a common desire for success. In any case, this documentary film is the one that will go down in the history of the world documentary film about sports, and certainly also in the history of Slovenian sports. As an extraordinary tribute to the unique Janja Garnbret.
The movie is coming on large canvas in the month of January, and we also hope that it will also be available on digital platforms.
