Good French toast is soft and juicy, so that it just melts in your mouth.
French toast originates, as the name suggests, from France. It is usually slices of old biroše, which are dipped in a mixture of eggs and milk and fried until golden brown. Good French toast is soft and juicy, and because it's exceptional caloric, it is not recommended to consume it every day. Although its baking is easy, it requires quite a bit of time. That's why we present you with a version for lazier mornings.
French toast
Ingredients
- 350 ml of milk
- 10 slices of old crustless bread
- 115 g cream cheese (mascarpone)
- 60 g of melted butter
- 4 large eggs
- teaspoon of vanilla extract
- a teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- powdered sugar for serving
- maple syrup for serving
Directions
- Heat the oven to 180 C. Grease the baking tray with butter.
- Cut the bread into cubes and spread them on the baking sheet. Pour the melted butter over the bread cubes.
- Mix softened cream cheese, milk, eggs, vanilla extract and cinnamon powder in a bowl. Mix until the ingredients are combined. Pour the resulting mixture over the bread. Press the bread into the mixture so that it "drinks" all the liquid. Allow the flavors to infuse - about 10 minutes.
- Place the mixture in the heated oven and bake for about 35 to 40 minutes.
- Allow mixture to cool before slicing and serving with maple syrup or powdered sugar. If desired, you can also add some freshly cut fruit.
