Recipe: sugar donuts that are very easy to make

Sugar doughnuts, simply known as "doughnuts," are a type of fried dough usually coated with granulated or powdered sugar. They are a popular delicacy in many parts of the world, especially in North America, where they are often sold in coffee shops, bakeries and donut shops.

Sugar donuts are made from a simple yeast-based dough that is usually flavored with vanilla and/or nutmeg. The dough is formed into small circles or rings, which are then fried until golden brown and crispy. Once cooked, the donuts are rolled in sugar to give them their signature sweet and crunchy coating.

Ingredients

  • 2½ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons of warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of granulated sugar
  • 3¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm whole milk
  • 2 oz room temperature unsalted butter
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Directions

  1. Mix warm water, sugar and yeast and leave to rise for about 5 minutes.
  2. Mix the rest of the donut ingredients with the sugar, including the yeast.
  3. Shape the dough into a large ball and brush it with butter to prevent a dry crust. Then place it in a covered bowl and leave it in a warm place until it doubles in size.
  4. Roll out the dough for the sugar donuts and form the doughnuts.
  5. Let them rise again for about an hour, until they have doubled or tripled in size.
  6. Heat the oil and fry the donuts for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. When they are cool enough, roll them in sugar.

In addition to the classic sugar coating, donuts can also be flavored with various other ingredients, such as cinnamon, chocolate or sprinkles. They can be served warm or at room temperature, and are often eaten as a breakfast pastry or as a sweet snack during the day.

While donuts are undoubtedly delicious, they are also high in calories and sugar, so it's important to consume them in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
