The refreshing drink tepache de piña is a slightly fermented drink made from fresh pineapple and brown sugar.
Tepache de piña
Ingredients
- ½ pineapple
- 1 liter of water
- 2 slices of ginger
- 5 tablespoons of brown sugar or cane sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 cloves
- 1 star anise
Directions
- Wash the pineapple and cut it into cubes along with the skin and core.
- Put the pineapple and all the other ingredients in a large jar with a lid and cover it with water.
- Mix everything well and let it ferment for 3 to 5 days.
- Then strain the mixture and cool it well. Serve with ice cubes.
