Starting from the capital Tirana, head south towards the historic city Berat. Known as the "City of a Thousand Windows", Berat is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its well-preserved architecture from the Ottoman period. The town is located on a hill overlooking the Osum River, with the castle dominating the horizon. The castle dates back to the 4th century BC and is now a museum that offers wonderful views of the surrounding landscape.

Vlora is also known for its history, as this is where Albania declared its independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1912. There is a museum dedicated to this event, as well as a monument and a beautiful waterfront promenade.

This historic city is known for its well-preserved houses from the Ottoman period and its mighty castle from the 12th century. Gjirokastra is also the birthplace of the most famous Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare, and there is also a museum dedicated to his life and work. The town is surrounded by mountains and is an excellent starting point for hiking and exploring the surrounding landscape.

It is a great place to experience traditional Albanian culture and hospitality, as well as enjoy the stunning natural beauty of the area. The town is known for its hot springs, which are said to have healing properties, and there are also plenty of hiking trails and outdoor activities.

Kruja is known as the birthplace of the Albanian national hero Skenderbeg, who fought against the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century. The town is home to a well-preserved castle and a museum dedicated to Skanderbeg's life and legacy. There is also a lively bazaar where you can find traditional crafts and souvenirs.
