Since its founding in 1968, the Royal Robbins leisurewear brand has been committed to respecting and protecting the environment. Royal Robbins is committed to making durable, quality and environmentally friendly clothing that allows consumers to have more adventures with less negative impact on the environment.

The founder Liz and Royal were passionate advocates for the preservation of our planet. Staying true to its roots of sustainability and preserving nature for future generations, the company is pioneering new practices with an even lower impact.

Since the production of materials represents the largest part of a product's footprint on ecosystems and the environment, Royal Robbins has carefully selected fibers as well as low-impact technologies that help reduce waste, chemical use, water consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Royal Robbins reduces the negative impact on the environment through material innovations

  • S. Café® fabrics
S.Cafe yarn is made from two sources of waste: recycled bottles and used coffee grounds from coffee shops in Taiwan, where an estimated 30 tons of coffee grounds are generated daily. Royal Robbins mill partner Singtex, owner of S.Cafe, processes around 1 % or 10-15 tonnes of used coffee grounds annually.
  • Polyester Seawool®
Seawool is made from recycled bottles and crushed oyster shells, collected from oyster farms in Taiwan. Taiwan's oyster farming industry discards 160,000 tons of oyster shells each year. Fiber manufacturing partner Royal Robbins diverts 7 tons of these fibers annually.
  • e-Flow technology
Based on nanobubbles of air, which work to transfer and efficiently disperse chemicals into the garment with minimum amount of water and zero discharge compared to traditional clothes washing processes.
  • Vacationer
Using an unbleached and undyed blend of hemp knits Vacationer spends 73 % fewer kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy, 77 % fewer liters of water and 100 % fewer chemicals than the traditional process of dyeing pieces.

This season, as many as 59 % garments in the line meet the brand's highest sustainability standard, which states that they must be made from more than 50 % materials such as: organic cotton, hemp, recycled polymer or priority forest materials.
