The Slovenian Book Fair is already turning over its 32nd page. The Slovenian Book Fair 2016 will take place from November 23 to 27, 2016, and it will traditionally take place in Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana. This year's fair will be opened by the author and filmmaker Elisabetta Sgarbi, the longtime editor-in-chief of the Bompiani publishing house, who in 2015 founded the independent Italian publishing house, Il nave di Teseo, with the support of the writer Umberto Eco. This year's country of focus is Italy. In five days, the fair will serve up 3,000 new books at 100 exhibition spaces.

Slovenian Book Fair 2016 will take place in Cankarjev dom from 23 to 27 November 2016. The color of the 32nd SKS is yellow like the umbrella of the girl from Ela Peroci's story My umbrella can be a balloon from 1962. Original illustration Marlenka Stupica was transformed into an artistic image of the fair by her granddaughter Hana. There will also be an exhibition of her illustrations at the fair introduction to the centenary of the first Slovenian picture book. The opening address will fall Elisabetta Sgarbi. The country is in focus Italy, which will succeed France. In cooperation with the Italian Institute for Culture in Slovenia, the Slovenian Book Fair 2016 will be hosted prominent Italian writers, Italian music, films and cuisine will add to the bustle.

Ljubljana will be visited by, among others, Susanna Tamaro, Paolo Rumiz, Antonio Scurati, Andrea Fornielli, Franco Berardi – Bifo, Cristina Battocletti and the author of the biography about Borut Pahor Figlio di nessuno (Nobody's son). There will also be guests Florence Hartmann, journalist, writer and human rights activist and former spokeswoman Chief Hague Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte.

Since books and theater are strongly intertwined, it will be at the fair this year more theater. It will be introduced Kamishibai Theater (storytelling with pictures on a small stage comes from Japan, where kami means paper, and shibai means theater and where the performer stands next to a small wooden stage, on which the pictures tell the story), choreographer, director and writer Damir Zlatar Frey and will present his Crystal Cardinal. She will help him Nataša Barbara Gračner. It will also be at the fair Milena Zupančič. This year's Slovenian Book Fair will be for the first time beyond Ljubljana. It is also spreading to other Slovenian cities, including Brežice. He is coming to visit Tolmin, which was declared for Alpine City 2016. SKS 2016 will approach the deaf, blind, partially sighted and physically or otherwise disabled. It also continues its growth children's book festival Cicifest, whose ambassador this year is a poet and writer Niko Grafenauer.


The Slovenian Book Fair 2016 will also launch a national campaign Slovenia is reading, at the event Because we don't care but they will famous Slovenians read excerpts from their popular books. The Slovenian Book Fair 2016 will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m, on Friday and Saturday until 22:00, and on Sunday until 18:00.
