Slovenian McDonald's with fresh strength in restaurants - pensioners!

McDonald's retirees

Is Slovenian McDonald's saying goodbye to students in its fast food restaurants? No, they just strengthened their team with retirees. In November, McDonald's organized a call to attract pensioners who wanted to work. They will work in Ljubljana and Maribor from January 2017.

In fast food restaurants McDonald's we are used to being greeted by young people, we rarely come across an older face there. If so, he is among the guests when grandma or grandpa take their grandchildren for a meal. From January 2017 but this will no longer be such a rare phenomenon in Slovenia, as they joined the McDonald's team retirees. You read that right. McDonald's hired its first retirees these days.

Slovenian McDonald's is aimed at offering an opportunity to active retirees who have the desire for work and social engagement, started a project of occasional or temporary work for pensioners at McDonald's family-oriented restaurants. The tender was applied for over 100 pensioners, which were dominated by women. Already January 9, 2017 the first four retirees will start working in Ljubljana (Grain, Coliseum and Mine) and Maribor (Swaty).

Initially, four retirees will be employed at four locations. If the response is positive, pensioners will come to other locations.

There will be work assignments for the 'young at heart' taking care of a tidy dining room and socializing with guests. Based on the reactions of 'fresh blood' and customers, McDonald's will continue with the project also in other restaurants. There are as many as 18 of them in Slovenia. This is the first time that Slovenian McDonald's has started working with pensioners, while this is already an established practice abroad. He regulates this kind of work amendment to the Labor Market Regulation Act.
