Electricity is becoming "mainstream"

Proof that electrification is not a fad - but the future of the automotive industry is the fact that soon all manufacturers will offer electric models in their range. In collaboration with Toyota, the legendary Subaru presented its first trump card.

So the new Subaru Solterra is the first electric vehicle from this Japanese automaker. The crossover will be brought to the roads in the USA, Canada and Europe in 2022. On the platform developed together with Toyota.

The Solterra will be available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, i.e. with a 150 kW (201 hp) AC synchronous motor driving only the front wheels, or with a pair of 80 kW (107 hp) motors, where one drives each axle, for a total output of 160 kW (214 hp).

Both models have a 71.4 kWh battery under the vehicle's floor, which Subaru estimates will provide approximately 530 km of range based on the WLTC standard. And for the four-wheel drive version, slightly less - an estimated 460 km.

The Solterra will charge the battery quickly with direct current of up to 150 kW – although Subaru has not given an estimate of how long it will take to charge. By comparison, Toyota said its BZ4X, which is built on the same platform, will take 30 minutes to charge to 80 percent capacity. The BZ4X will also hit the roads in 2022 and will be built on this shared platform, which Toyota calls e-TNGA and Subaru calls it e-Subaru.

When the model hits the roads next year, Subaru will undoubtedly compete with the Rivian for the customer base in the adventurer segment. There are a lot of people who already appreciated this brand and chose it as "gourmets", and that's why we predict a bright future for this model.
