The Opel Astra has been on the market for 32 long years, and this time it is the first time that it is available in an all-electric version. It will be available as a station wagon and in a body style with a chopped rear. Despite its all-electric platform, the electric Opel Astra is almost identical to the internal combustion engine-powered version.
The designation GSE, or ʺGrand Sport Einspritzungʺ, was reserved for the sportiest Opel cars. Now this designation will take on a new meaning, and the first model with the new GSe abbreviation, Grand Sport Electric, is the new Opel Astra GSe, which will be available with a chopped rear end or as a station wagon.
The new Opel Astra therefore brings a pure electric drive, a plug-in hybrid and a classic internal combustion engine, thus summarizing the concept that was established some time ago by the new generation Opel Corsa. So an identical platform regardless of powertrain choice. At the same time, it brings an interesting and bold design, but still recognizable design characteristics of Opel models - from the last and past eras. She is interesting!
We have already seen the sixth generation of one of the oldest European cars in the compact class. The new generation brings a completely new design and, in time, also electrification. The new Opel Astra will once again be produced in its native Rüsselseheim, but it will have to face strong competition in the form of the Golf, Focus, Megane and Octavia.
Opel is celebrating its 120th anniversary, which is why they presented something fresh and exciting on this anniversary - the new Opel Corsa-e is not only cute at first glance, but also boasts a fully electric drive.
The Opel Astra Sports Tourer is the new Opel Astra station wagon, which has kept the same dimensions as the previous station wagon, so the driver gets 2.5 centimeters more headroom, and the rear passengers get 2.8 centimeters more legroom. In addition to the passenger cabin, the trunk also grew by 40 liters. Just like the new Opel Astra, Opel is betting a lot on its station wagon derivative, the new Astro Sports Tourer, which will come in handy for the hatchback in pursuit of the Rüsselsheim-based brand's sales goals.
The new Opel Astra was a carefully guarded secret, as Opel was supposed to present it only at the autumn salon in Frankfurt. But a combination of circumstances and photos that were leaked to the public led to the fact that we are already receiving the first photos today. This is the new Opel Astra!
You know - the time around Christmas is the one in which very special feelings arise in every individual. There is always something special and different in the air. And accordingly, the surprise that the representatives of Opel Slovenia prepared for us was when we received a bright yellow, but really bright yellow Opel Astro GTC for the "Christmas" test. One that hides almost 200 sparkly deer under the hood, but I'm sorry... horses. It seems that there really isn't that much of a difference between horses and deer. But there is a difference between the Opel Astra GTC and its conventional 5-door sister.
