While the largest Lego store in the world recently opened in London, where visitors can see many tourist attractions made of Lego bricks, in front of the Lego Store in Ljubljana's City Park, there is a mountain giant made of 35,000 Lego bricks, on which it is also possible to jump. Jumping ace Robert Kranjec will also try it soon. Find out how far he will fly on November 25, 2016.
Slovenia is shaking with jumping fever. On Friday, the first race in ski jumping in the new season (2016/17) is on the schedule, where Peter Prevc, who wrote a golden chapter in the history of ski jumping last season, is starting his title defense. In the dreamy past season, he not only jumped onto the jumping Olympus, he also conquered everything there was to conquer, and at the same time broke many records and raised the appetites of the already demanding Slovenian public, who ate out of the hands of the Slovenian eagles last season. The jumpers are ready for the new season, which starts with Friday's match in Kuusamo (November 25, 2016), followed by a new one on Saturday.
You are invited to the World Snow Day in Planica 2017, to the most fun event in the snow! It will take place on January 14 and 15, 2017, when Planica will host the popular World Snow Day for the sixth time. The event is primarily intended for children, who will be able to try their hand at Nordic disciplines, i.e. ski jumping and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and snow hockey, etc., and borrow equipment free of charge.
Arguably the most brutal running event in the world, the Red Bull 400 Planica 2016, the run to the top of the Gorišek brothers' airfield, which is officially the steepest 400-meter uphill run in Europe, is approaching. The fourth chance to win the run with a start at the bottom of the giant mountain (that is where the Slovenian eagles usually land) and the finish at the top of the starting ramp will be offered to mountain runners on September 17, 2016.
The Prevc brothers invite you to a coffee at BTC Ljubljana on June 2, 2016 at 6 p.m. Peter Prevc, Domen Prevc and Cene Prevc will then stop at the Alples studio in hall 10, where you can meet them live, chat with them and take photos, and from 3 p.m. you can show your flying skills for free in the company of Francia Petka tested on Mini Planica.
A Slovenian performed the first tandem ski jump! Jumpers Rok Urbanc and Jaka Rus made history as the first jumpers in the world to jump in tandem. They went down the K41 mountain jump on one pair of skis! They landed at 35 meters and set a world record in tandem ski jumping. You can see the extraordinary jump in the video. Again, no, you are not seeing double!
Planica 2016 will take place from Thursday, March 17, 2016, when the qualifications will be held, until Sunday, March 20, 2016, when the curtain will fall on the 2015/16 season in ski jumping with an individual competition. The program will be very varied, and the Slovenian jumpers, led by Peter Prevec, with their exceptional performances, are the best possible invitation to Ponce, where a new sports holiday awaits us. Last year in Planica we saw three Slovenian victories and a heartbreaking playoff, and although it seems that this cannot be surpassed in terms of emotional charge, we can expect an unprecedented spectacle in 2016 as well. Tickets are already on sale.
Thanks to Petr Prevac, ski jumping became the number 1 sport in Slovenia overnight. That's why an application prepared by OK Planica and the Skiing Association of Slovenia in cooperation with the Zaki company, with which you can transform into Slovenian eagles and the world and show your friends who is the best.
Would you like to transform into Slovenian eagles and feel what it means to fly 250 meters far without having to ski down the Planiška Velikanka? Soon it will be possible. But not with the help of augmented reality. A steel cable has been strung over the ski jump of the Gorišek brothers, and the attraction will soon be officially opened. Ziplines are nothing new in Slovenia, but nowhere will you feel like Peter Prevc, Robert Kranjec, Primož Peterka and other jumpers who complete the same route on skis while going down the zipline.
Planica, where the final of the Ski Jumping World Cup will be held again in 2015 (March 19-22), smells like a record again, so just take a look at the competition program, because the holiday under the Ponci is not to be missed. The March match returns to the Gorišek brothers' airfield, where in 2005 Björn Einar Romören landed at the then record 239 meters. For the past four years, the longest running brand has been owned by the Norwegian company Vikersund, which, like Planiška, is also owned by a Norwegian, Johan Remen Evensen.
We will certainly not be hungry this weekend, but we will be able to squeeze out all the energy that has accumulated throughout the week and treat ourselves to a great movie breakfast at the end. Sounds good, right? Let's see what adventures are in store this weekend.
