The mass poetry initiative Pay with verse 2020 is moving online due to the new coronavirus epidemic. It will take place in the form of a poetry competition on the social networks Instagram and Facebook, and the selected verses will be published in a unique collection of instapoetry by various authors.
The UNESCO organization declared March 21 as the World Poetry Day (2019), which will also be held this year under the sign of literary events. Lovers of poetry, you will face a severe test, namely you will pay homage to it by reading for 24 hours without stopping. All that matters is that you come and help make this silly but slightly romantic idea a reality. The event will take place in three locations, and it will also be broadcast live, so you won't be able to avoid it in any way.
How would humanity even survive without coffee? Coffee seems to be able to solve almost anything: quarreling neighbors and co-workers, frowns and disputes, maybe even wars. March 21, World Poetry Day, is approaching, and we will once again have the opportunity to pay for coffee or tea with verse in more than 60 cafes across Slovenia. The Pay with Verse 2017 initiative will also have a charitable note. In Julius Meinl Slovenia, they have prepared the campaign #VerzZaVerz, with which all participating poets will help to expand the range of books in the library for blind and partially sighted children and adolescents of the IRIS Center.
Esad Babačić, Slovenian singer, poet, writer, songwriter and journalist, will present his new poetry collection Kitula in Stari mestna Elektrarna, and on this occasion he will also perform with his band Via Ofenziva, which has released a new CD. The entrance fee to the event is a book.
UNESCO, which is fundamentally committed to the promotion of democratic principles of dignity, equality and mutual respect, declared March 21 as World Poetry Day. Namely, he understands poetry as a necessary source, and poets as witnesses to important social events and changes, who use poetry to spread timeless messages.
On World Poetry Day, March 21, 2015, verse will become the new currency of payment. On this day, guests in 1,200 cafes, bars, restaurants and other bars from 27 countries from all over the world will turn into poets and pay for their coffee with a verse. Slovenia is also part of the international initiative, where it will be possible to pay with poetry at 15 locations. Behind the initiative is Julius Meinl, Viennese coffee roaster and global ambassador of Viennese coffeehouse culture. With the poetry movement, they want to inspire individuals and encourage them to, at least for one day, surrender to their emotions and creativity.
Days of Poetry and Wine, the largest international poetry festival in Slovenia, is celebrating its 18th anniversary. Perhaps this year's festival will be more serious and mature, but not at the expense of the relaxed festival atmosphere.
