The ten most extravagant celebrity engagements that really happened

Wedding season is here and we're all maybe a little more romantic than usual. But it is important that we remain realistic about everything. Our engagements are by no means star-studded, and we're not sure we really want one either. When we have too much money, we can afford just about anything. Even with an engagement that has to be better than the best. Here are some of the most ridiculously extravagant celebrity engagements that actually happened.

1. Seal took Heidi Klum in an igloo.

That's right. While they were vacationing in the Canadian part of the Rockies, Seal surprised Heidi with a helicopter and took her to the top of the mountain, where he had an igloo built for her.

2. Kanye West rented out a stadium to propose to Kim Kardashian.

For this purpose, Kanye West rented AT&T Park in San Francisco, where he had written on a giant screen: "Please marry me!". To top it off, there was an orchestra playing his song Knock Me Down, and Kim was presented with a 15 carat diamond ring. When she agreed, fireworks lit up the sky, and she was also surprised by her family and friends.

3. Matthew McConaughey wrapped the wedding ring for Camila Alves in as many as eight boxes.

At Christmas (classic), Matthew made sure Camila was the last to open presents. Before she got to the ring, she had to unwrap as many as eight boxes. The first words out of her mouth were not: "Yes, I accept", but something more like this: "WTF? Eight? Really?".

4. Nick Cannon proposed to Mariah Carey twice. The first time with a lollipop, and the second time he kidnapped her.

For the first time, Nick proposed with a ring-shaped lollipop that contained a 17-carat diamond ring. A few days later, he "kidnapped" her and proposed to her once more in a helicopter.

5. Snooki proposed to Jeff Miranda on the cover of a magazine.

Jeff Miranda proposed to reality star Snooki right on the cover of Steppin' Out magazine after they had been a couple for exactly two weeks. You may not believe it, she said "no" to Snooki.

7. Jordan Bratman took romance too seriously.

While Jordan Bratman and Christina Aguilera were vacationing in California, Jordan littered the room with roses and boxes containing handwritten notes detailing why Jordan loves Christina. In the last box, of course, was a ring.

8. Eric Winter scared Roselyn Sanchez to death.

Eric's plan for a midnight engagement on a kayak in Puerto Rican Bay was brilliant, if only he hadn't scared the crap out of Roselyn Sanchez. When their guide literally ran away from them, she feared that she and Eric were stuck. When she realized what was actually happening and Eric shoved a 4.3 carat ring under her nose, she was no longer afraid.

While at Disney World, Liam arranged for one of the Cinderella characters to go to Erin's house, transform her into Cinderella (her favorite Disney princess) with make-up and a custom dress, and then take her to a private dinner where Liam showed up dressed into a prince.
