Turtle rescue in Mexico

People travel alone for many reasons, and not all of them want to focus only on themselves, but also want to help others. The opportunity to do something good for the planet is offered in Quintana Roo, Mexico, where you can join a number of local efforts to save sea turtles. Most notable is the Akumal Turtle Camp, a program hosted by the Akumal Ecological Center (CEA) since 1993.

The camp invites volunteers to learn about the species through training, learn about protocols for monitoring turtles and species identification, and then put the acquired knowledge into practice in the field.

Treat yourself to a quiet retreat in Bali

The Buddhist practice of silent meditation dates back thousands of years, but the need for quiet contemplation amid endless online chatter is more alive today than ever before.

There are many hideaways around the world that aim to help travelers disconnect, but one of the more beloved is Bali Silent Retreat. As the name suggests, the retreat does not include conversations, listening to music, there is only silence, so the company of a fellow traveler would be really out of place. The spa is located at the foot of the Mount Batukaru volcano and is surrounded by rice fields.
