Let's face it, the Adidas Samba sneaker is everywhere. It seems like you can't take a step on the street without bumping into someone wearing this iconic pair. But just when you thought you'd seen every color combination and collaboration possible, the fashion giant pulled an unexpected move. For summer 2026, they took the scissors, cut off the back, and created something that will divide the internet. Are you ready for the biggest fashion experiment of the season?
If we had to describe the last decade in the world of urban footwear in one word, it would probably be “Adidas Sambaa”. This legendary model has long since transcended the status of a mere trendy sneaker and has become something that could be called “the basic uniform of the modern man”. Indeed, in any metropolis today you can’t throw away your ice-cold matcha latte in the air without spilling at least a dozen people wearing these very sneakers. You can love them or secretly roll your eyes at them, but their absolute grip on pop culture and street fashion simply cannot be denied.
Now, Adidas has decided to take the next, perhaps a bit daring, but completely logical step. What happens when the most popular sneaker meets the hottest trend of the last few years? They cut off its back, name it Samba Mules and it's being served to us just in time for the summer of 2026. Depending on how strict you are about your fashion beliefs, this is either the smartest summer makeover of all time or that watershed moment when Samba officially crossed the line of good taste and became almost a parody of itself.

A brilliant move or just looking for a quick buck?
The timing of this launch is of course not in the least bit coincidental. Mules or closed-toe sandals have been quietly but remarkably persistently taking over the casual footwear world for a few years now. This huge wave was largely sparked by the Birkenstock Boston model, which was literally swallowed by the entire demographic from teens to those in their late twenties, and then the comfort pandemic spread to the rest of the generations.
Loafers had their five minutes of absolute glory in 2022 (let's be honest, loafers are still and always will be a good choice, because we are cosmopolitans after all), but now it's clearly time for flip-flops. Adidas has clearly studied the trend charts and very pragmatically decided that the Samba urgently needs to get its piece of the fashion pie.
A cynical view of the whole situation? It certainly seems like a somewhat transparent attempt to make a quick buck off two mass trends. But if we look at it from another perspective, the Samba is a 1950s classic that has been refreshed and reworked in dozens of ways to this day. I think we can say with great certainty that the truth is somewhere in between – it's a brilliant marketing move by the brand, and the rework will still look damn good on our tanned summer legs.

Three different aesthetics for every summer mood
The inaugural series brings us three different colorways, each taking a slightly different approach to this “cut-off” transformation. No matter your personal style, there’s something to suit your summer wardrobe.
-
“Off White/Preloved Brown” (HP5050): This version is undoubtedly the most refined and elegant piece in this group. It combines a classic leather base with airy mesh side panels, which will definitely save your feet from an unwanted sauna on hot July days. Contrasting brown suede on the three stripes and heel adds that perfect, sophisticated retro touch. We already dare to say that this color combination will receive the most attention and will reign on social media this summer.
-
“Beige” (HP5051): If you're more into muted tones, this neutral beauty will be a hit. It keeps the same winning formula of leather and mesh as the previous model, but wraps it all in softer, sandy hues. It's literally calling out for long walks along the beach and light linen pants.
-
“Navy” (HP5053): The third version takes a slightly different approach and plays with textures more boldly. Here, we find luxurious suede on the front, smooth leather on the sides, and the legendary three stripes are innovatively embroidered in knitwear. This is the icing on the cake for evening summer styling.
All three versions, of course, stand faithfully on the recognizable gum rubber sole, which preserves that true, indestructible Samba DNA and ensures comfort with every step.

When, where and for how much?
Although at Adidas While they haven't officially confirmed pricing for the Samba Mule model, we can reasonably expect the figure to be within the standard price range for classic Samba sneakers. Get your credit cards ready, because all three are unisex color versions planned for a big summer release in 2026. They will be available on the official website Adidas.com and at carefully selected fashion footwear retailers.
Whether you're excited about this bold hybrid or are horrified by the sight of the "cut off" heel and holding your head, one thing is clear - the Samba slip-on will absolutely dominate the fashion capitals this season. The decision is now in your hands: will you succumb to the biggest trend of the summer or will you stubbornly remain loyal to the safety of laces?
