If you are a fan of outdoor activities, the Soča Valley is definitely the corner of Slovenia and the Alps that you must visit. There you will experience adrenaline-pumping water adventures with kayaks and rafts on the Soča River, discovering the unspoiled beauty of the surrounding canyons, it is also home to various aerial feats, from ziplining to paragliding and panoramic skydiving, which attract visitors from all over the world at their own expense but so do hikers and bikers, as the nearby trails offer stunning views of streams, waterfalls and endless green forests.

There is really a lot to see and experience in the Valley of the Emerald Beauty, but above all there is something for everyone. We recommend for installation Bovec, as it contains excellent places for camping and is also a very good starting point for visiting various natural attractions, not to mention the delicious culinary offers at the head of Bovsk krafis and colorful crowds sporting experiences.

They are just a stone's throw away from here of waterfalls Virje and Hip. The first one, with its turquoise pool, is a great place to cool off on warmer days, while the second one, which requires a small climb, is considered the most watery waterfall in Slovenia and is a real feast for the eyes. You'll have to work a little harder to see it it originates Juices, but it's definitely worth every drop of sweat. The upper part of the trail is more difficult to pass, and we recommend appropriate footwear.

They are one of the most beautiful corners of the Bovac area the large troughs of the Soča with a long and narrow riverbed that eventually widens into beautiful natural blue pools. If you drive from Bovec to Tolmin, you will be able to enjoy the view of Tolmin troughs, another wonderful location to chill and relax. The picturesque and wild troughs are the lowest entry point in the Triglav National Park, and an organized circular route runs along them.

Finally, something for curious history lovers – Kluže Fortress and Kobarid. Kluža fortress is located above the deep gorge of Koritnica and is considered an important monument of defense against Turkish incursions and attacks in the First World War. Here you will feel and admire the drafts of the past that marked this important strategic position, also called Bovška vrata.

You will also go back to the time of the First World War by visiting the multi-awarded Kobari Museum, which represents the heritage of the Soča Front. The museum tells the sensitive story of the difficult and bloody days along the Soča River, and the 12th Soča Battle, the miracle at Kobarid, is especially highlighted among military history lovers as the most successful breakthrough operation in the First World War.

Mandatory equipment for an active holiday in the shelter of the Julian Alps

Of course, living in nature is not the same as living in the city. In nature, you need to be prepared for different temperatures, weather changes and, of course, the rugged landscape.

Appropriate clothing

This is basic equipment, as they are with you every step of the way. Therefore, it is important that in environments where the weather is often capricious and can change quickly, they serve you well in all conditions. They have to offer enough clearance and you at the same time protect from the cold, and at the same time they must be durable, functional and at the same time comfortable. A good example of such clothes are jackets and pants by Fjällräven.

Designed from right special material G-1000 they are suitable for any adventure and designed sustainably for several decades of use. The material consists of 65 % polyester and 35 % cotton and impregnated with Greenland Wax, which is made from beeswax and paraffin, which makes it more environmentally friendly than chemical means for impregnation. This combination makes the G-1000 durable and resistant, extremely breathable and water-repellent, and protects against wind, UV rays and mosquitoes, among other things. Clothing made of G-1000 material feels great in all seasons and all weather conditions.

Backpack

A traveler without a backpack? This equation does not go through. A backpack allows us to carry everything we need with us and at the same time have our hands free, which is crucial when spending time actively. Of course, it is important to choose a backpack suitable for the adventure, as it should not hinder us. For shorter hikes they are thus small enough to fit something under the teeth, a water bottle and maybe a spare t-shirt or sweater, for longer travel expeditions, but of course a larger backpack is better, in which we can have our entire luggage inside. In any case, you will be in Fjällräven's offer found the right one for themselves, including legendary ones Kånken.

Tent and sleeping bag

You can only experience nature at its best if you completely surrender to it. This means that you forget about the beds in the hotels and prefer to lie down on the green under the beautiful starry sky. This way, you will listen to the sounds of nature in peace and get in touch with yourself. Even with a roof over your head, it will best stand by your side Fjällräven with a wide range of tents, floor mats and sleeping bags. The main purpose of the tent is to protect against bad weather, and if it is easy to assemble and carry around, all the better. Fjällräven tents tick all three items. They are divided into three categories - ABISKO, KEB and POLAR - and they are all considered to be well ventilated and at the same time made of materials that will protect you from precipitation, cold and sleet.

Refreshment

Every traveler must also eat if they want to explore the surroundings. Food and drink are, after all, the fuel that gives us energy. And at least once a day, a person should eat a warm meal. Those who set up their (temporary) home outdoors during their travels sometimes face a minor challenge. And with Primus gas cookers this is quickly becoming a thing of the past. They are convenient to carry and use, and strong enough to prepare various dishes, and they are also equipped with foldable wind shields, which prove to be indispensable in windy regions.
