These sneakers reveal the facts about modern slavery

Slavery in its traditional form has long been eradicated. Nevertheless, new forms of slavery have appeared in the modern world, the existence of which, unfortunately, is insufficiently pointed out.

The campaign that fueled it Thomson Reuters Foundation, aims to raise awareness of the dark side of consumerism. The sneakers made of leather, suede and mesh, which were made especially for the needs of this campaign, are revealing the gruesome facts about the modern form of slavery and forced labour.

The foundation is together with an advertising agency TBWA and influencers Jacques Slade created a video titled "The Real Price of Sneakers” (“The True Price of Sneakers”). This reveals the deeper meaning of sneakers that can be bought in various stores around the world.

At first we can witness the display of a simple pair of slippers, but it hides much more inside. A closer look at it reveals many facts about modern slavery. The price list does not show the price of the shoe model, but the price of a slave, which is 90 US dollars respectively 77 euros. Sneakers sov box, on which instead of the inscription "handmade" there is the inscription "slavemade” (“made by slaves”). At the same time, they are printed on them many facts about the modern form of slavery, such as, for example, exploiting people in this way 161 countries around the world.
