Completely unexpectedly, the jury awarded the title of Women's Car of the Year to a vehicle that does not lack testosterone.
In a flood of all kinds of crossovers, as well as many shiny urban toddlers, the jury, consisting of as many as 50 automotive journalists from as many as 38 countries around the world, declared it the best women's car of the year. Yes, in addition to many car awards, there is also this one, which is awarded on International Women's Day.
"The legend is restored. The Defender is no longer just a cross-country SUV suitable for crossing the Amazon and driving through deserts. In its latest model edition, it invites you to travel on the road as comfortably as in a luxury limousine. That's why its technology and at the same time comfort is what made it the Women's Car of the Year," said WWCOTY Committee President Marta Garcia.
And the competition was really strong. Eight more car "models" entered the grand finale, winning in their category. The women made an extremely pragmatic and rational choice. And awarded prizes to excellent cars. The winners are Peugeot 208 (best city car), Škoda Octavia (best family car), Lexus LC 500 Cabrio (best luxury car), Ferrari F8 Spider (best sports car), Peugeot 2008 (best city SUV), SUV (Kia Sorento), Ford F-150 (Best 4×4 and Pickup) and Honda e (Best EV).
We have to admit that this selection is at least as good as the selection made by men's commissions. So the women's car of 2021 is the new Land Rover Defender.
