After "Top Gun: Maverick" was shown to the audience at CinemaCon, experts agreed: the long-awaited sequel to the film classic is "an absolute hit" and "the best movie of the year."
Anyone critical of sequels to cult films will probably learn a lesson in this case. After the first screening of “Top Gun: Maverick” at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, social networks were full of praise for the second part of the classic with Tom Cruise.

On April 28, 2022, almost 3,000 visitors to the cinema fair enjoyed watching the much-anticipated second part of the aviation epic before the official premiere in May 2022. The bizarrely good reactions that could be read on Twitter a little later leave no doubt that “Top Gun: Maverick” probably one of the best movies of 2022. And definitely worth watching.

“Deadpool” comic book writer Rob Liefeld was lucky enough to be in the screening room at CinemaCon and tweeted shortly afterward that he had his best moviegoing experience in a decade.

Film critic Erik Davis was also more than impressed: "One word: wow! 'Top Gun: Maverick' is absolutely awesome in every possible way. The action and flying scenes are insanely intense and constantly changing and evolving. You can really cheer and get into the movie itself! I wasn't prepared for how emotional it was going to be. The crowd cheered ten times. That's what it's all about!!”
TOP GUN: MAVERICK is the perfect blockbuster. Not only did it feature dazzling aerial combat sequences, but I actually cried, it's that emotional. And call me crazy, but I humbly predict that it WILL land a Best Picture nod next year. It's not just THAT good, it's VERY good. 😉

Film journalist Drew Taylor noted that the film is already the best of 2022: “'Top Gun: Maverick' is a deep cinematic experience and easily the best film of the year. As for Kosinski, Christopher McQuarrie, Eddie Hamilton and of course Tom Cruise. The epic, intimate, heartwarming and heartbreaking drama is achieved. No matter how good you think the movie is going to be, it's even better in reality.”
