Translucent desert house

Phillip K. Smith's installation creates the illusion of transparency of a desert house.

Project named Lucid Stead American artist Phillip K. Smith III creates the illusion of transparency. Because of the mirrors on the wall of the desert cabin, we feel like we can see straight through. The installation was created on a seventy-year-old house in the High Desert in California. Weather-weary beams and mirrors alternate on the "striped" walls of the house, which make it seem as if the lanes of the house are disappearing into the desert.

Smith III he says the installation aims to enter the stillness and rhythm of change in the desert. When we calm down and unite with the desert, the essence of the precept is revealed to us, revealing to us the play of light and shadow, the reflection of light and the changing nature of the desert.

Even the windows and doors are filled with mirrors, which are lit at night with the help of the Arduino computer system and LED lamp turn into glowing colored reflective surfaces.
