The smartphone brand Xiaomi ranked 2nd in terms of smartphone popularity among buyers worldwide in the second quarter of 2021, according to Canalys, a leading global technology market analyst firm. For the first time in history, Xiaomi swung just below the top of the leaderboard, with a 17-percent share and 83-percent year-on-year growth, beating rival Apple.
The credit goes to the outstanding achievement of the Mi community, which brings together loyal users Xiaomi technology and the company Miers, which dictates global trends and innovations for everyone with passion and perseverance. During the mentioned period, the Xiaomi brand was also the leader in the growth of smartphones.
Canalys pointed out in the report that Xiaomi is in the process of transforming its business model from a market challenger to a smartphone sales leader. All this thanks to initiatives such as partner consolidation and smarter management of open markets. Canalys added that Xiaomi's next goal is to dislodge its main competitor Samsung from the top spot to become the world's leading smartphone seller.
Lei Jun, Miers CEO also thanked all employees for the historic success of the Xiaomi brand: "Second place in the world means great challenges and responsibilities for Xiaomi in the future as well. For the first time in history, we have reached an unprecedented level, and many challenges inevitably await us in the future as well. We are honored to be able to stand on the world stage alongside the most powerful and innovative companies in the world. We are still very young and we are gaining experience and knowledge every year. Strong competition and the speed of progress in the field of innovative technology strengthens us and encourages us to progress."
