How to properly prepare chestnuts if we use a grill, if we use an oven or a pan and how to prepare them in a microwave oven?
How to properly prepare chestnuts at home so as not to be disappointed? It's true that the tastiest one in the city is roasted over a fire, but chestnuts prepared at home can also be great - if you know a few tricks!
To avoid unpleasant surprises, chestnuts the night before preparation soak in water. The one that floats on the surface is useless. This will temporarily eliminate those that would end up in the trash anyway. Let's see, how to properly prepare chestnuts on the grill, in the oven, in the pan and in the microwave.
Barbecue
A frying pan is used when preparing grilled chestnuts. Place the chestnuts in a preheated pan with holes, which is intended for these autumn fruits. Bake them for 15 minutes or more if they are larger fruits. During roasting, it is important to maintain the same temperature and to turn the chestnuts so that the skin does not burn. A properly roasted chestnut is sweet and the shell easily separates from the meat. It is best to wrap it in a clean tea towel as soon as it is baked to cool and steam, which will make peeling easier and give it an intense flavor.
Oven
Cut the chestnuts and place them in a pot of water. Cook until the water boils. Then drain the chestnuts, place them in a baking tray and bake at 220 degrees Celsius for 20 to 25 minutes. When you're done, wrap them in a kitchen towel and let them sit for a few minutes. Another method is to place the chestnuts on a baking sheet, and under it a baking sheet into which you pour water. The steaming water will prevent the chestnuts from drying out in the oven. It will remain juicy. Pre-cooking is definitely recommended for the best possible effect and juicy chestnuts.
Frying pan
Cover the bottom of the pan with coarse salt. Then cut the chestnuts and sprinkle them with salt. Light the fire, cover the pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. When the chestnut is baked, wrap it in a kitchen towel and let it stand for 5 minutes.
Microwave
Cut the chestnuts in the usual way (an X-shaped incision) and place them on a fireproof and microwave-safe plate. Bake it at the highest temperature in one-minute intervals! Chestnuts usually need 3 to 4 minutes to be cooked (they are cooked when the shell starts to roll back).
