11. Weekend Media Festival 2018

The 11th edition of the Weekend Media Festival is coming to the old tobacco factory in Rovinj from September 20 to 23, where communicators from all over the region will meet. At lectures, round tables and workshops, they will examine current topics and trends, from politics, through digitization, literature, and an expedition to the South Pole, which resulted in plenty of interesting discussions.

"This year's WMF brings an extraordinary breadth of topics for lectures and round tables, as well as interesting festival partners, who this time come from France and Germany. The entire old tobacco factory will be dressed in the image of Paris and Berlin, bringing visitors a personal experience of culture, art and lifestyle," he said. In its first ten years, the most anticipated weekend has positioned itself as a popular meeting place for communicators, and in its second decade, it wants to develop further quality program and attractive prizes for the best agencies from the region. Part of the extended program will be dedicated to the partner countries, which will present themselves through lectures and exhibitions through Parisian charm and Berlin's multiculturalism.

"At the festival, we traditionally research changes in the market on a local and global level, and we also try to look a little more below the surface of what is happening. Highlights from this year's WMF program

·Is my own phone spying on me is a question that every one of us has asked at least once since phones became smart. It will reveal everything the smartphone can do without our knowledge and permission Alen Delić, leading information security consultant at Diverto, at the lecture Do you trust your phone.

·Representative of the Estonian Parliament, probably the most digitized countries in the world, Estonian Kalle Palling will speak at the Digital Republic of Estonia lecture about what a fully digitized citizenship looks like.

·Dejan Verčič, partner and director of knowledge at Stratkom, will explain at the Communicating in words lecture how we have returned communication to its beginning - images - and how this affects communication today.

·Davor Rostuhar, probably the best-known Croatian adventurer, will show in his lecture Polar Dream - the first Croatian expedition to the South Pole, how to push your own limits and how to make your dreams come true.

BalCannes

It will take place again this year as part of the WMF BalCannes, to which agencies from all over the region can apply until September 1, 2018. At the seventh edition of BalCannes, selected 25 best communication projects. An expert jury will award the BalCannes Lions, and the best agency will receive a special prize - a competition at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2019.
The organizers of BalCannes, the Croatian Association of Marketing Communication Societies (HURA) and WMF, will pay the selected agency the cost of submitting one project to Cannes Lions 2019.

SoMo Borac

A regional prize will also be awarded at the WMF SoMo Borac. We'll find out who had the best social media campaigns, which are the best websites and mobile apps, and who dominated content marketing. The SoMo Fighter Award will be awarded in nine categories. Applications are open until September 5.
