20 new adopted maple trees on the Path of Memories and Friendship

Ljubljana, November 28, 2013 – Representatives and tenants of the Citypark shopping center and representatives of MOL today welcomed a new resident along the Path of Memories and Friendship. As part of a socially and environmentally oriented campaign, Citypark donated EUR 10,000 to plant 20 new trees on this largest green public area in Ljubljana.

Greenery and trees are an indispensable part of a healthy and pleasant living, especially in urban centers, and the preservation of natural resources is more important today than ever before. City park therefore decided on a socially responsible and environmentally oriented campaign called Adopt a Tree. The purpose of the campaign is to ensure the preservation and expansion of the green park areas of our capital and to establish an even more personal contact of residents with the environment. City park will donate for this purpose EUR 10,000 for planting 20 new trees, which will grow on the Path of Memories and Friendship - on the section of Brdnikovo Street and the Road to Brda. Next to the first of the newly planted maple trees (Acer Rubrum in Latin), a plaque with the names of the first 75 buyers who symbolically adopted the tree was discovered today.

Toni Pugelj, executive center manager Citypark said on this occasion: "At Citypark, we are committed to taking care of the environment and wider society, which we strive for in various ways. In the spring, we opened a charging station for electric vehicles, we help various organizations with charity campaigns, we strive for efficient use of energy and materials in the center, etc. For the most part, Citypark employees, including our tenants, are involved in this, so we wanted to invite our loyal customers to participate in the Adopt a Tree charity campaign to help us adopt the first 20 trees and thus spread awareness of the importance of a green environment. We are happy that since November 11, when the campaign started, more than 130 individuals and families have already responded to the invitation to adopt, and in the future we will also enable adoption to our business partners, who will be able to adopt a part of the tree on behalf of the company .”

Action Adopt a tree will end in January 2014, and customers can adopt a tree with the help of a leaflet that they receive in Citypark shops with a purchase over EUR 30. The custody of an individual tree will be shared by several adopters, who will be able to find their names on plaques next to the planted trees and in the virtual park on the website www.posvoji-drevo.si, where it is already possible to see how many customers have adopted trees so far.
