Have you ever wondered how old your skin really is? You can easily check this with an elasticity test.
The skin changes over the years. There is a simple way to estimate its functional age. It is a so-called 5-second skin elasticity test that allows you to quickly and easily find out how young or old your skin is.
How to find out how old the skin is
Do a skin elasticity test. Follow these steps:
- First, clean your hands well and dry them.
- Then squeeze the skin on the top of the palm with your thumb and forefinger.
- Hold the compressed skin for five seconds.
- Then release it and time how quickly it returns to its original position.
How to interpret the test results?
Based on the test results, we can assess the state of skin elasticity and determine whether it needs special care. If the skin quickly returns to its original position, this indicates a high degree of elasticity and probably a younger functional age of the skin.
However, if the skin slowly returns to its original position, this indicates a loss of elasticity that needs to be addressed with proper care.
What do the different tenses mean?
Depending on the time it takes for the skin to return to its original position, we can estimate the functional age of the skin:
- If it takes 1-2 seconds, is the functional age of the skin below 30 years.
- If it takes 3-4 seconds, is the functional age of the skin between 30 and 44 years.
- If it takes 5-9 seconds, is the functional age of the skin between 45 and 60 years.
- If it takes 10-15 seconds or more, the functional age of the skin is 60 years or more.
How to care for the skin according to the test results?
If you notice signs of loss of elasticity, we recommend that you include products that stimulate production in your care collagen, improve skin elasticity and prevent further aging. This may include using moisturizing creams, serums with antioxidants and regular use of sun protection factor.
Remember that proper care is key for maintaining healthy and youthful skin, so make sure your skin always receives the proper care it deserves.
