The artistic pulse of the Coast

Artists often look for inspiration in nature. It calms the mind and thoughts and allows a person to relieve himself of the worries and responsibilities of everyday life. Let's discover for ourselves why Obala is the place where we often come for fresh energy. Let's drive to the place where the sea and the sky meet in the horizon.

Let the sun's rays be an invitation to the warm side when we drive along the coastal road all the way to Dill, which with its palm plantation in the city center gives visitors a sense of the modernity of the seaside city. Let's drive under their canopies past the nice city market, where there is also a better fair on Sundays, and then after a few meters, just before the seashore, turn left to the parking lot and start exploring on foot. The developing city is rich both in its cultural heritage and in its ever-increasing range of leisure activities. Let the cappuccino and the croissant with chocolate convince us to begin with Capitanija cafe near the city arcades. Here we will be able to enjoy both the rich sweet offer and comfortably upholstered armchairs, which will give us the feeling as if we were watching the colorful happenings on the street from the sofa at home. In the summertime, across from the pastry shop, there are also several colorful stands with an original range of various works of art and local crafts, but let's take our route towards the narrow streets of the old city center, where we take a peek into one of the galleries, Čevljarski Street choose new shoes or decide to repair the old ones, visit the antique shop and head towards Tito's square at the top, which was already formed in the second half of the 15th century. The square has been the center of the city for centuries and has retained its original role to this day. They surround him Cathedral, Praetorian Palace, Lodge, Armeria and Foresteria, its surface is often transformed into a stage for various events that enliven the city's happenings.

But the most romantic thing is sitting on the shore and listening to the sound of the sea waves, so let's go down to the bathing embankment and enjoy our five minutes with an ice cream in hand. From here, it is only a few steps to our vehicle. Let's continue along the coast to the center of nautical tourism, Izola. But this old fishing town is not only famous for the wide range of sailboats at the pier, but Izola is also known for its artistic pulse, which was revived years ago as part of Street museum. The main driver of this project is the revival of old crafts and craft streets in the old city center, which represents an additional tourist offer of the place and concern for the preservation of cultural heritage, so let's park our car in the city center and walk past the market to Ljubljanska Street in the old city center. At the "Pri pek" bakery, warm delicacies from their oven will also restore our energy. For one euro or less, we will choose between semolina or yogurt bread, garlic bread and many other "culinary works of art". They will melt in our mouths, while we discover different artistic worlds, which are expressed in original creations created by local artists. Signs with the inscription "Ulčni muzej" mark the studio or gallery from afar and direct us from one point of interest to another. Most of them are in the parallel Koprska Street, where you can To the studio of the puppet society we sail again into the world of fairy tales, shake hands with Red Riding Hood, Cefizlje or Sleeping Star and marvel at the beautiful sculptures, jewelry and other products made of painted glass at the next door Studio MLK. We will find out what can be created from ceramics if we open the door Snežice Kranjc ceramics studio, which, in addition to established treatments, also uses a special technique of throwing glowing clay into sawdust, called "raku".

Wind in the hair
There is no shortage of inspiration in this place, as there is no shortage of inspiration for the various artists who depicted their creations in carvings on the large sea rocks next to the main fishing pier. Even from afar, the monument marking the 50th anniversary of the London Agreement in the form of a large iron sail, which stretches right next to the sea beach, directs us there. A walk along the pier allows us to see real fishing boats, which ensure that our plates do not run out of fresh fish with a good catch. But if we turn towards the infinity of the sea, new works of art are revealed in front of us, created by many local and foreign artists as part of the summer colonies. Various stories and sculptures are thus created from the rocks, such as Baba swimming in the sea, It's nice to be a shell in Flowers and grass of Izola. Imagination really has no limits! Information plates next to the stone creations ensure easier recognition and understanding of the authors. If we are not overcome by hunger again, let's take a walk around the town beach, pick up a small stone as a memory and climb to the bell tower stretching into the sky, which stands majestically next to the church and the rectory of Izola. From there, back again to the old city center and quickly behind the nose to one of the restaurants by the sea, where we taste another side of creativity, this time from seafood, olive oil and grape berries, and then, as usual, turn towards home or wind ahead unpredictably .
