What types of yoga do we know?
Choosing the right type of yoga is a rather complicated matter, because nowadays there are an extremely large number of approaches, types or styles of yoga. Some are more dynamic, others follow a strict plan of performed sequences of positions and sequence, others are meditative in nature, and yoga can even be practiced in pairs. Before we choose ours, we try at least a few of them and then choose the right one based on our own experience and feelings. Let's embark on the path to nirvana and learn about some basic types of yoga.
1. Hatha Yoga
Most of the exercises that we find here are a form of Hatha yoga. It is an exercise that is not overly physically demanding and is an ideal choice for beginners who are just getting to know yoga. The main focus of Hatha yoga is on relaxation and calming down.
2. Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa yoga is physically more demanding and strenuous than Hatha yoga. A key feature of this type of yoga is the successive transition from pose to pose. Asanas are performed in strong connection with the rhythm of our breathing.
3. Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga yoga is a physically extremely demanding type of yoga that requires excellent physical fitness and prior knowledge of the basics of yoga. It differs from Vinyasa yoga in that the transition from asana to asana in Ashtanga yoga is strictly defined. Even in this exercise, the coordination of breath with movement is crucial.
4. Iyengar Yoga
Iyengar yoga is an exercise with the help of props. Most of the poses are similar to the basic forms of yoga, except that it is about finding the right balance in a particular asana. This is achieved with the help of accessories, the most common of which is a yoga strap.
5. Bikram Yoga
Bikram yoga means performing 26 asanas in heated rooms, where the heat increases the intensity of the exercise.
6. Kundalini Yoga
In Kundalini yoga, the main emphasis is on awakening our sleeping consciousness, which we wake up by performing asanas in a precisely defined sequence, which are based on the flow of energy through the seven chakras that are distributed in our body.
7. Acro yoga
Acroyoga is based on a combination of yoga and acrobatics, and its special feature is that this form of exercise is performed in pairs. It is about perfect harmony, trust and surrender of partners, who strengthen their body and relationship with the help of non-verbal communication. Acro yoga can now also be practiced at us.
