Four-legged furry friends can add more exercise to our lives, so we've dug around and found some ways to encourage you to exercise with your dog.

Do you already exercise with your dog? If you haven't, it might be high time you started. The best a friend to man (depending on the breed) is a great companion when moving, whether running, swimming or any other activity.

Hiking

Hiking is a great way toexercise together with the dog, while at the same time breathing fresh air and enjoying beautiful views. Find dog-friendly hiking trails near or far and get outdoors together. Don't forget to bring enough water and snacks for both of you.

Run

If you are a fan of running, your furry friend can also keep you company. Dogs are great running partners (especially certain breeds, while running is not recommended for some smaller breeds or breeds with certain health problems) and their enthusiasm will undoubtedly help motivate you. Start by walking to warm up, then gradually increase your pace to jogging. Make sure your dog is comfortable and choose safe paths, preferably on softer ground.

Dog yoga (Doga)

Unleash your inner yogi and invite your dog to join you for doggy yoga, also known as "doga." Find a quiet place in your home or garden, place a mat on the floor and begin your yoga routine. Incorporate gentle stretches and poses that involve your dog, such as dog pose. "Doga" helps improve flexibility and balance and relaxes us as well as our puppy.

Swimming

Swimming is an exercise that has a beneficial effect on our whole body, and at the same time it is also perfect for dogs who love water. Find a dog-friendly swimming spot, be it a lake or the sea, and take a dip together in the crystal clear water. Start with shallow water if your pup is just a beginner and gradually move into deeper areas. Swimming is a great cardiovascular exercise that works all the major muscle groups and helps you and your dog cool down on hot days.

Agility training

Agility training is a dynamic exercise that combines movement and mental stimulation of your dog, while allowing you to exercise together with your dog. Enroll in an agility course where you will be able to practice together with your dog under the watchful eye of experts. By jumping over obstacles, slaloming between bars and ramps, your dog will improve coordination, and at the same time it will be a good exercise for you too, as it requires a lot of running and concentration.

Interactive games and tricks

Participate in interactive games and tricks that challenge your dog physically and mentally. Play fetch with a frisbee or ball to improve your puppy's speed and stamina. Teach them new tricks like jumping through hoops or crawling under obstacles. These activities provide exercise and mental stimulation while strengthening the bond between you and your dog.
