The cookbook I highly recommend, in which Darja Končarevič collected her favorite recipes - the owner of Ljubljana's Basilika, known for its delicious pies, župka and desserts - was published in mid-November, and the first printing was sold out in just a few weeks. At this year's book fair, it also earned the title of the most beautifully designed Slovenian cookbook.
I highly recommend the cookbook is a selection of around 80 recipes, which up until now, only a handful of people, Darja's family and her colleagues in the bistro, knew the precise grammage. After many requests for a recipe - for any of the Basilica's classics, for example scrumptious muffins, light meringues or filo for spinach pie – Basilika's fans can now try Darja's recipes themselves, in their home kitchen. Here, she will guide us through the preparation with tips and tricks.
For lunchOn three hundred pages, not only culinary suggestions are classified, breakfast ideas, lunch, a warm smelling pastor, crisp salads, practical and varied pies, sweets and party snacks. Darja decorated everything with texts in her warm style.
Brownies with three types of chocolateDarja's words and recipes are accompanied by photos Mance Jevšček and David Lotrić. The first accompanied Darja in the kitchen, the second during many family gatherings. The whole book was connected by a designer Teja Kleč, the title illustration is the work Polona Pacnik.
BorschtThe book was self-published. It has three hundred pages, is firmly bound, and its price is 28.50 euros.
