IKEA Swedish Meatballs Recipe

Ball ingredients

  • 500 g of ground beef
  • 250 g of minced pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, crushed or finely chopped
  • 100 g of breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 5 tablespoons of milk
  • salt and pepper

Ingredients for the cream sauce

  • a drop of shrimp oil
  • 40 g of malt
  • 40 g plain flour
  • 150 ml of vegetable soup base
  • 150 ml of beef broth base
  • 150 ml of cream
  • 2 teaspoons of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard

Preparation

Mix the beef and pork mince with your hands to prevent lumps. Add finely chopped onion and garlic, breadcrumbs, egg and mix. Add milk and season well with salt and pepper. Form small balls. Place them on a clean plate, cover and refrigerate for 2 hours (this will help them keep their shape while baking). Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. When hot, add the balls and cook until nicely browned on all sides. Place them in a fireproof container and cover it. Place in an oven preheated to 180 degrees Celsius (160 degrees if it is fan) and bake for an additional 30 minutes.

For the sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in the flour and mix for 2 minutes. Add the vegetable and beef stock and continue to mix. Add cream, soy sauce and mustard. Bring to a gentle simmer and allow the sauce to thicken.

When the food is ready, add potatoes, mashed or boiled new potatoes. Have a good run!
