An indestructible four-wheeler for the roughest terrain

The American company Polaris presented the indestructible four-wheeler "Polaris Sportsman WV850". This 850 cc beast handles even the most demanding terrains, mainly due to the special technology of airless tires called NPT (Non-Pneumatic Tire).

The NPT technology was developed in cooperation with the US military and was introduced back in 2012. The shape of the rubber is designed like the inside of a beehive, thanks to which it retains its shape despite heavy loads. It passed the most difficult tests, after shooting through all the tires with a 50-caliber rifle, it endured 500 kilometers of difficult terrain and a further 1,600 km with an iron rod stuck into the "fabric" of the tire.

It is after difficult expectations Polaris started producing and selling a limited series this month Sportsman WV850, which will be available for €11,000. This big toy has an 850 cc engine with 77 horsepower, steel construction, a payload capacity of up to 400 kg and a towing capacity of up to 700 kilograms and, of course, four-wheel drive. Polaris VP of Field Operations David Longren says: "We have seen the great success of airless tires in military rescue scenarios in natural disasters, and we are very excited to introduce the technology to the public and consumers for extreme work conditions." In addition to foresters and miners, for whom the vehicle will make their work easier, there will also be adrenaline junkies who will overcome difficult and impassable terrain.
