Lotus Elise S1 Safari by Get Lost – when an athlete becomes an adventurer

Safari Elise: the craziest idea of the year? Maybe. But look at it, listen to it – and try saying no.

This car is like a British countess at a rave: sleek, extravagant and completely unpredictable. It's the Lotus Elise S1 Safari by Get Lost!

As the automotive world increasingly sinks into electric crossovers and digitized screens, some creators are still playing with ideas that smell of gasoline, sand, and uncompromising imagination. The Lotus Elise S1 Safari project is one of those cases where someone didn't think, "This is crazy," but rather, "This is exactly what we need." The result? A car that acts like a cross between a rally beast and an art exhibit from the Berlin Industrial Fair.

Who are Get Lost and what did they do with Elise?

Get Lost Automotive Team, made up of designers, mechanics and dreamers from all corners of the automotive world – from racetracks to design studios – set themselves an ambitious task: to make the Lotus Elise S1, one of the most iconic British sports cars of all time, suitable for gravel, mud and mountain passes.

This is not a conversion. This is a complete reinterpretation of the car. The 100-millimeter raised chassis, reinforced frame, completely reworked suspension and wider track aren't just for show - they're for serious off-road. They've also added skid plates, a hydraulic handbrake for confident cornering on gravel, and an anti-skid system.

Design boldness that divides opinions

If the original Elise is known for its rounded lines, the Safari shows its teeth without hesitation. The sharpness of the rectangular LED headlights, including daytime running lights that subtly hint at the classic Mini, gives the vehicle a completely new identity. The roof air intake is one of the most beautiful examples of how aesthetics and functionality can work in perfect symphony – with it the Elise Safari not only looks sharper, but also sounds more brutal. The sound of air intake at full acceleration is pure pleasure for the automotive hedonist.

Inside the Lotus Elise S1 Safari by Get Lost, they have developed brand new seats, upholstered in genuine leather and tweed – a tribute to classic British elegance, with just the right amount of sporty character. They are comfortable, ergonomic and adaptable, which was by no means a given in the original Elise.

Performance? It's more about feel than numbers

While specific engine and performance figures haven't been released, we do know that the original Elise S1, with its 1.8-litre Rover engine, produced around 120bhp (88kW) and weighed less than 800kg. That means it could hit 100km/h in around 6 seconds (or 3.7 seconds for the more powerful versions). Combined with off-road tyres, a mechanical differential and new suspension geometry, the Elise Safari feels like a real buggy – only a lot more stylish.

But this vehicle isn't about numbers. It's about emotions. It's about the dust that rises behind you, the feeling of the steering wheel shaking as you drive over rocks, and the laughter as the rear end gracefully sweeps away on gravel.

Conclusion: a car that takes you out of your comfort zone – literally

The Lotus Elise S1 Safari by Get Lost is not for everyone. It doesn't care if you have a smooth road. It cares if you are ready for adventure. It is brutal, special, full of character and completely its own. And that is exactly why it is so charming.

Although the price  Lotus Elise S1 Safari by Get Lost The price is not yet known, we know it won't be low. According to information, it will be a very limited series, and each example will be individually tailored to the buyer. It all works like a kind of boutique approach to a car adventure, where you buy something unique. And maybe also the most fun.

If this Elise the definition of madness, then this is exactly the madness we sometimes need – to remind us why we fell in love with cars in the first place.
