The new Tesla S: the model that changes the world - again

The new Tesla S will have a range of over 800 km!

The Tesla S is definitely one of the most important cars in automotive history and the model that catapulted Tesla to the top of the car manufacturers and definitely paved the way for it to become the most valuable car company in the world. This is also why micro changes like this one are a big leap into the future. The new Tesla S will have a range of over 800 km!

After years of shaking up and setting standards in the electric vehicle market, it is Tesla finally announced an updated version of its Model S sedan, the car that catapulted the company into the ranks of serious automakers. As part of its Q4 2020 annual earnings report, Tesla revealed that a heavily revised Model S, and production will begin in just a few weeks. We present you with all the information available so far.

Normally, we would focus on the exterior first, but there are only minor cosmetic changes. But we can say that the real change is actually this time in the interior of this model. Here's a little revolution. The Tesla S said goodbye to the vertical tablet layout found in current models Model S and X. This screen, however, replaced it 17.0-inch portrait display, which looks almost identical to the one in the Model 3 and Y. Tesla says that the resolution of the screen has been greatly improved and can handle a resolution of as much as 2200x1300 with better brightness and even improved responsiveness. There will be an "additional" screen for driving data, which is located under a rather specific and different steering wheel, this time cut off. The latter looks like it came from an out-of-this-world vehicle. It's reminiscent of the same steering wheel style seen on the new Roadster concept. Of course, the entire interior has been revamped, like the ergonomics of the dashboard, which is much more upright and the special integrated ventilation system that was first introduced in the Model 3. Large parts of the wood trim complete the new look, which is freshly "futuristic" and still quite different from the existing one. .

Hmmm…. what's new on the exterior?!

Looking at the exterior, the car is instantly recognizable as a Model S. Most of the rework has taken place on the lower part of the front fascia, and the new wheel design is also noticeable. The overall silhouette looks sportier than before, with aggressive detailing found throughout the design. Many are a bit disappointed by the lack of jump in the S model, but the car still remains sufficiently unique and fresh. It's just not as futuristic as it was 9 years ago.

There are also new trim levels. Twin engine "Long Range” remain the base models, but the equipment level has been upgraded Performance changed the model Plaid. There is no real difference in performance between the old Performance versions and the new Plaid models, but for the S model, the new Plaid+ is coming later in 2021, which brings new battery cells. These new batteries will allow Plaid + to 836 kilometers of range with one charge and accelerations 0-100 km/h less than 1,99 seconds.

SUV fans will be pleased to know that Tesla has also confirmed a facelifted version of the Model X, which will feature the same exterior and interior changes as the Model S.
