Passport Photos: These are the crazy things we can do when taking photos for our ID

In the Passport Photos series, photographer Max Siedentopf humorously re-introduces one of the most boring and uninteresting types of photos - ie. photos for an identity document. What kind of antics we can guess while someone is taking photos of us for passport, personal, driver's license, check in the gallery!

Photography guidelines for official documents are almost certain the strictest guidelines, which there are: photos must show features of the entire face, which must be evenly lit, skin color must be natural, eyes open and clearly visible, reflections on glasses are not allowed. The person in the photo must not wear a head covering (religious communities that wear head coverings may attach a photo with a head covering, but only if the face is clearly visible and recognizable). The background of the photo must be neutral. The photo must also not be retouched. And the worst: the person must not smile in the photo.

But do you ever wonder what might be going on outside the 3.5 x 4.5 centimeter frame of the photograph? The photographer has the answer to that Max Siedentopf, who came up with some really funny situations. For your photo series Passport Photos has re-introduced one of the least interesting types of photography through a humorous photographic lens - ie. photo for ID. He thought, what antics we could guess outside of said photo frame. The series thus shows people glued to the wall, people trying to balance several wine glasses, people making a tightrope between two chairs... and many other craziness and feats that we can't even imagine.
