Porsche unveils the ultimate 718 Spyder RS: Goodbye combustion engines

Porsche has unveiled the latest combustion engine model in the 718 series, the 718 Spyder RS. This exceptional open-top sports car boasts a lighter and more efficient design, while still delivering an impressive 493 horsepower. Find out all about this exciting new model and its unique features.

Porsche enthusiasts, rejoice! German car manufacturer is with a stunning new 718 Spyder RS completed the final farewell to engines with internal combustion of the 718 series. The wonder with an open roof is based on Cayman GT4 RS and boasts a range of improvements and modifications to make it the most exciting iteration yet.


With weight only 1,410 kilograms (£3,108) 718 The Spyder RS sheds 40 kilograms (88 pounds) from the version that isn't RS. The convertible has a single-layer sun sail and wind deflector, making the roof assembly for 7.6 kilograms (16.7 pounds) lighter than 718 Spyder and 16.5 kilograms (36.3 pounds) lighter than the 718 Boxster.

718 Spyder RS has 20-inch forged wheels, and for those looking for even more performance, Porsche offers optional magnesium wheels. The position of the vehicle is lower for 30 millimeters (1.18 inches), which contributes to its aggressive and sporty appearance.

But it's not all about weight savings and aggressive styling. 718 Spyder RS it offers a more comfortable ride than its coupe counterpart, thanks to a different spring and damper setup. This ensures that the convertible's performance meets customer expectations without sacrificing ride quality.

It has under the hood 718 Spyder RS equal to atmospheric 4.0 liter engine like in 911 GT3, which produces impressive 493 horsepower and 450 newton meters (331 pound-feet) of torque. Power is sent to the rear axle via a seven-speed PDK transmission, allowing the sports car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h (from 0 to 124 mph) in rapids 10.9 seconds. Spyder RS has the highest speed 308 km/h (191 mph), which is only 7 km/h (4 mph) less than the Cayman GT4 RS.

718 Spyder RS can be ordered in Germany at a starting price of €151,215. At the current exchange rate, this amounts to approx 147,850 euros. For those who want extras, Porsche offers a matching watch in a titanium case.

718 Spyder RS will be publicly presented for the first time at the speed festival in Goodwood in July, and deliveries will begin shortly thereafter. As the final combustion-engined model in the 718 series, this incredible open-top sports car will be an exciting and memorable welcome to the iconic line.
